Household appliances are a must for every home and kitchen. These are those essential items which are an integral part of our daily lives, and without them it would be difficult to manage a house.

There are many household appliances that should be a part of every home. It is not difficult to find cheap home appliances that are also of good quality as there are a variety of brands available in the market. One of the most important household appliances is a washing machine. If you are on a budget, it is better to go for a smaller size that uses less water and energy. Some brands that deliver good quality in an affordable range are Whirlpool, LG and Hotpoint.

Another essential is a vacuum cleaner. Again, the price will depend on the size of the machine and the brand you choose. One of the most famous brands in the United Kingdom for vacuum cleaners is Dyson. It is amongst the cheapest but delivers good quality cleaning. An iron is something that we cannot live without. There are many types of irons available such as the steam iron and other others without steam. The Bosch TDA2301 Steam Iron is new in the market and delivers great value for less money.

The kitchen is the place where most household appliances are needed, and they can be categorized into large and small appliances. Amongst the large appliances, fridge is an essential that must be present in every home. Freezer is another item that is necessary. LG and Whirlpool are the brands to be considered on a budget, as well as Hotpoint. Apart from these items, dishwashers are now becoming an essential in the kitchen. The Bosch Integra is a great item that will not break the bank. For baking and cooking purposes, ovens are also appliances that must be purchased. Maytag ovens are a good option as they are stylish and durable, and are not too expensive either.

Small kitchen appliances also include many items. Microwave ovens are another purchase that is a must, and LG is perhaps the best brand for microwaves. They are cheaper than most other brands, but there is no compromise on quality. If you are looking for sophisticated stainless steel styles on a budget, then Sharp is the brand for you. Another important household appliance is a toaster. Although they are not expensive to begin with, you should go for Philips and Kenwood toasters as they have the lowest prices. A food processor is another appliance without which a kitchen is incomplete. It combines many functions in one product and allows you to save money. The Kenwood FP 250 is a great buy as it delivers good quality for a low price.

Lastly, a coffee machine is an appliance that has become an essential nowadays. The Bosch Filter Coffee Maker is a good option as it makes great coffee and is a cheap buy. Similarly, you can also purchase an espresso or tea maker, depending on your taste.

By: Edward Woodwards

Why do electrical kitchen appliances make great wedding gifts? This is because a young, newly married couple needs to start from scratch to set up a new home. This is where the tradition of giving wedding gifts originated. Friends and family would gift various utility items. In modern times, we tend to overlook this tradition but following it would make practical sense.

A good place to start is the gift registry. If the bride and groom have registered at a department store for any kitchen electrical appliances, then it is simple enough to purchase one from their list. This way, you know you are buying something they want.

Even if the happy couple has not requested any electrical kitchen appliances do not rule them out as a surprise gift. Many couples starting out do not have an adequately stocked kitchen, and small appliances are often one of the main deficiencies. While they may not yet know they would like to have a certain appliance, they will surely appreciate it once they have it, and you can rest assured that you have given them a practical gift that they will use frequently. Let your knowledge of the couple guide your purchase decision.

Electrical kitchen appliances make excellent wedding gifts if you know that the groom or the bride enjoys cooking. You will be addressing a real need the wedding couple has, and giving them an item that you know they will enjoy using. Since couples who cook probably already have many appliances, you should give them specialty appliances they don’t yet have or high-end quality appliances that they’ve been looking for.

Electric food processors, slow cookers, stand mixers, and waffle maker are among the most frequently requested small kitchen appliances that are given as wedding gifts. More specialized items like rice cookers and bread makers are also popular, but shouldn’t be given as wedding gifts unless you know the newlyweds will use them. Espresso makers also make good gifts, despite their expense.

Finally, while kitchen appliance can be a great gift, there is always the problem of duplication, or just not being what the recipient would want. While gift cards were once frowned upon, modern practice and lifestyle is less formal and gift cards are considered appropriate.

By: Robin Holland-smith

Why not make yours one of the ever-growing numbers of solar power residential homes? Are you looking to find a way to lower your energy bills and make a positive impact on the environment?

The United States has currently 5% of the planet’s population although it consumes 26% the world’s total energy. An average US citizen consumes over 14 times the energy of a person in a developing country.

Currently over 20,000 homes in the United States use solar power energy for electrical power. Over 1 million solar power systems are in place to heat water, 80% being in regular households.

You can start converting your home to solar power for far less money than you may have previously thought.

Producing your own solar power has many benefits, in addition to reducing your own energy costs, there is potential that you can even contribute power back to the grid and have the utility company pay you.

Increasing fuel costs have changed people’s minds, no longer do we think that our fuel reserves are endless. We realize now that we have to start reducing our dependency on nonrenewable fuel sources. A move towards sustainable energy solutions will include adding solar power to residential homes.

The move to a more green existence starts with each individual. You can create your own power, it’s a lot easier than you may think.

Guides are now available on the Internet. For under $200, the average person can install a home solar power system that will generate over 100 W of power. This amount of power is ideal for powering lights and small appliances in your home.

Solar power systems are scalable, meaning for approximately $100 per 100 W, you can convert your home to run exclusively on energy from the sun.

By: Dave J Smith

Why use a generator?

•	Power Outage: one of the most important reasons to have a generator is for when the power in your home goes out. In case of a nearby natural disaster (including hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, fires, flood, etc.) or local emergency, you may find yourself in a situation where your home is fine, or only slightly damaged, but the power supply doesn’t come back on for days. During that time, you will need electricity to keep essential appliances running such as your fridge/freezer, heat or air conditioning in severe weather, and more.

•	Camping

•	Working outside – at festivals, construction sites, and more.

•	Tailgating – a generator comes in very handy to power small appliances while tailgating.

Who needs a generator?

A generator is great insurance for almost anyone, but some folks really should never be without a backup power source, especially those who have:

•	Electric powered medical equipment – if you or someone in your household depends on medical equipment such as a CPAP or other electric device.

•	Refrigerated medication – don’t count on being able to pickup ice at the gas station in an emergency, it won’t be available.

•	A freezer full of food – you’ll earn back the cost of a generator when you save that side of beef and other frozen foods in your freezer from melting a few times.

•	Sensitivity to severe weather – elderly folks or small children who wouldn’t do well in extreme hot or cold.

When to buy a generator

The best time to buy a generator is before you need it. If you wait until a local emergency hits, you’ll likely find that the local home improvement store is sold out. Worse yet, even if you do find one at the last minute, you haven’t practiced using it. Give yourself plenty of time to learn to use your generator safely. Read the manual. Don’t wait! Order your generator today so you’ll be prepared when the lights go out.

What to look for in a generator

•	Wattage – make sure your generator has enough wattage to

•	Connection type – appliances can be directly plugged into most generators. If you want to connect the generator to your home wiring, you must have an electrician install a power transfer switch.

•	Reliability – you need a generator that you can count on.

•	Noise Level- a loud generator can be a nuisance and make you very unpopular with the neighbors.

Where to buy your generator

Once you have decided on your preferred generator, it’s time to start shopping. Do some browsing at your local home improvement warehouses and machine shops, and then do some price comparison shopping online. Often the best deals can be found in auctions for gently used generators.

By: Jamie J Johnson

When remodeling your kitchen, you should have a few purposes in mind. It is important that your new design will provide you with much more convenience, functionality and perhaps a better overall appearance. Even if you are working with a rather small area, it is very possible to fit in the things you need by choosing the right items and styles. Here are some tips.

Prioritizing Your Kitchen’s Needs

First of all, you need to set a fixed budget to keep yourself from spending on unnecessary items. Prioritize what your kitchen needs. Among the most common might be floor space, countertop space, storage space or appliances. Deeper counters will help solve the problem of inadequate floor space as well as storage area. You may want to invest in more square feet of these instead of getting a bulky appliance. Deep cabinets work the same way as counters in the sense that they can provide extra space to prevent clutter as well as maximize floor area. Using built-in cabinets with slide-out drawers, roll-out shelves and tilt-out bins will give extra space when needed.

Getting a New Design

Your remodeling design should focus on creating the illusion of making your small kitchen seem bigger and wider through the right color, arrangement and light. Pick one main paint color which you may contrast slightly with a darker tone. Even if your kitchen may mostly be made out of hardwood, you can still pick light colors for your appliances, mats and other items. Letting in enough light through the windows, a new skylight and stainless steel items will also open up the area. You can do well without window treatments but white and light-textured curtains are also a good option. You can change your kitchen door into a French one. Find the ideal materials and colors that match the room.

It is equally important to arrange items properly when remodeling or you may end up with less space than before. Place one or two small appliances on countertops which you use often such as the microwave oven and blender. Store away other items when not in use. Get small containers and holders to organize knives, utensils, ingredients, condiments and dishes. A hanging frame over the countertop may come in useful to place pots, pans and other goods. Pick the right spots for installing new light fixtures. A few bright bulbs spread evenly across your small kitchen are good.

By: Anthony Lee

In a country where the rise in population is directly proportional to the fall of available space, it is very practical to live in smaller units such as apartments. However, the hazard of living in such small places is that your appliances and furniture tend to be smaller, too. Your refrigerator is smaller, your bed is smaller, and even your toilet bowl is smaller. So, when the time comes that you need an oven for a special dinner, all you can do is scratch your head.

But that is not the case anymore. Because appliance manufacturers noticed the need for smaller yet fully functional appliances, they have produced toaster ovens. You might think, “I won’t be able to bake in that thing.” That is where you are wrong.A lot of moms know the need of owning an oven at home. Without one, you will not be able to make decent lasagna or bake cookies for fundraising events. With a toaster oven, cooking these things is no problem at all.

Toaster ovens come in two different types, the first one is the plain oven where you are just limited to toasting breads and grilling a sausage. The second one, however, performs functions of a normal oven and allows you to bake, broil, and grill, complete with timer and temperature controls.

Toaster oven cooking is actually very easy if you already know how to use a full sized oven. The controls are pretty much the same, allowing you to fiddle with the controls for customized settings. Most toaster ovens have controls of whether you want to turn on both the top and bottom wires or just one at a time. They also come with a convection function, making sure that the temperature is distributed equally inside the oven.

The convection control normally serves as the rotisserie control as well, allowing this type of cooking for chicken. Normally, a rod and two locks are included n the box when purchasing a toaster oven and, having tried one, I could say that the locks really do a good job in keeping the chicken secured.

Toaster ovens normally use electricity to operate, although it does not consume as much as a full sized electric oven does. The size, like mentioned, is perfect for smaller families.

There are a few drawbacks in this kind of cooking, however. Since the oven is smaller, the space between the hot rods and the food is greatly reduced. Because of that, food seems to cook quicker compared to a larger oven. It is also quite hard to fit a turkey inside, again because of the size. But that one can easily be solved by replacing it with a smaller bird such as a chicken. After all, Thanksgiving does not come around every day.

Toaster ovens are perfect for families living in smaller spaces or for anyone who cannot afford a decent full size oven yet. It performs most of the functions of the real one at a smaller size and a relatively smaller price, as well.

By: Mary Franklin

A fridge that is portable has benefits that are important to consider. Portable refrigerators, also called travel coolers, allow you to keep your snacks and beverages cold when not at home. These movable appliances can be used in a car, on a boat, at a campsite, during a sporting event, or even at the office.

A large 64-quart capacity is the ideal size but it is possible to find portable fridges in other sizes. A 64-quart capacity portable refrigerator can hold 107 12-ounce cans. Portable appliances can be used as a refrigerator or freezer due to the variable temperature control. Most of these small appliances come with removable baskets and easy to clean plastic lining.

Fridges that are portable contain benefits that include the fact that you can power the item with your car, boat, or camper using a 12 volt DC cord or at home with an AC adapter. As an added safety measure, it is good to find a portable fridge with a low voltage protector that will shut off the power if the car battery is low.

Portable refrigerators come in a variety of colors. Popular colors include grey, red, white, and black. Side carrying handles make the fridge easy to move from location to location. Many include a digital thermometer with an LED display and memory functions.

Prices for portable fridges vary depending on the size and features of the model. They range from as low as $100 all the way up to $1200. When shopping for a portable refrigerator check prices online and look for sales.

By: Garrett C Smith

Every kitchen is different. Every family, every workspace, and every location is going to have a specific set of considerations that influence what exactly you can do with the space. Now, when it comes to rooms that are small, but still have to be very functional, such as an apartment kitchen, it all comes down to space conservation. The efficient use of the available space is going to be what separates a great kitchen from one that is almost completely unusable. After all, what good is a kitchen if there is no room for any food?

When you are actually trying to find ways to make the most of your limited space, there are several different ways that you can go about it. Modern kitchen appliances are frequently built with the efficient use of space in mind, and so they perform additional tasks that they may not traditionally be known for. For example, it is very possible these days to find an oven that not only also provides the ability to steam your food, but includes an actual grill built into the stovetop between the burners, letting you do a great deal more with the same limited amount of space.

While it is important for small kitchens to include multitasking options whenever possible, you should not neglect to include all the storage space you are going to need. While you may already be making sure that you have enough storage space to hold your food, you also need to be sure that there is enough room to put away any small appliances that you will not regularly use, as well as all of your pots and pans. Look at every surface and space as a potential storage area in order to make the best use of your space.

Every kitchen has its own particular considerations that need to be taken into account when you start working on it, and this is especially true with small kitchens. The kitchen is a working area, and things need to be laid out efficiently if you want to be able to work happily and comfortably within it. In addition to making sure that you have space to work and that things are tucked out of the way, you need to maximize your storage options whenever possible. A little extra time in the design process is well worth not having to run to the other side of the house whenever you need something.

By: Tim R Goodman

The tradition of giving wedding gifts developed out of the need for a young couple to have all the items necessary to set up a new home. Friends and family would provide these items. In modern times, of course, we have departed from the origins of this tradition, but it is often overlooked that young couples still need to furnish their house. That is why electrical kitchen appliances make great wedding gifts.

You might want to take look at the gift registry, which is a good place to start. It would be simple enough to buy it from a department store where the bride and groom have registered for any kitchen electrical appliances. This ensures that you are buying something that is of use to them.

If you know that either the bride or groom loves to cook, then electrical kitchen appliances make an especially fitting wedding gift. Not only will you be addressing a practical need, but will be giving a personal gift related to their hobby. As cooks would probably already own many appliances, better gift ideas would be higher end, quality appliances that they may want or specialty appliances that they do not yet have.

Mixers, electric food processors, slow cookers and the like are the most requested wedding gifts. These are popular kitchen appliances that would get frequent use, unlike specialty items like bread makers and rice cookers. If you plan to give one of those, make sure they fit the bride and groom’s lifestyle first. Another expensive, but popular gift is an espresso maker too.

A kitchen store gift card comes to the rescue of those who want to gift a kitchen appliance but don’t know which one to pick. In the past, a gift card wasn’t considered a good idea but these are gaining popularity in today’s times, with people being more informal.

By: Robin Holland-smith

Neff ovens are available in series one to series six, with series six having the highest specifications and series one being the most basic. There are three types of oven in the Neff family. Single ovens are Neff’s flagship product. They can be bought on their own or together with a built- in microwave. Neff’s double ovens feature two cavities and at least three different cooking options. Neff’s range cookers feature either one large oven, dual cavity, or three separate cavities. Both models have a large hob with six burners and are flexible and easy to use.

The CircoTherm® cooking system is available in a wide range of styles and finishes. Neff introduced CircoTherm® cooking over 30 years ago and the method continues to be the benchmark for all fan models. The system works by drawing air in from the oven via a powerful fan. The air is then heated and forced back into the cavity through ducts in the back wall. The heated air is continuously circulated around the oven, which means that the temperature can be reached more efficiently and evenly than in versions that do not feature this technology.

Both the U1644 and U1564 double Neff ovens feature the CircoTherm® technology.

Neff ovens are available in a standard size, but also in smaller sizes for kitchens that do not have as much space for the new appliance. The B1724 model is only 45cm high, but they have managed to keep the same level of functionality. This particular model is a single oven and has the Circoterm® technology included. The H5430 is a microwave model and fits into a 50cm wide wall cupboard. The smaller appliances can still be customised to some extent in hat they can be combined with other small appliances including mix and match domino hobs and a slim line dishwasher.

All of the available Neff ovens have the option of a stainless steel finish, which is usually the most convenient option as it is easy to keep clean and also simple to coordinate with other stainless steel appliances. If you decide to go for a stainless steel appliance, you will probably be happy to know that all of Neff’s stainless steel models carry the ‘Steelmark,’ which proves that they are manufactured fro authentic stainless steel. Some of the appliances are also available in other colours, such as black, brown or white.

All these cooking products are graded A-G to give the energy efficiency rating of the appliance. It is the same with all appliances. Since 2003, all electric oven manufacturers have been required by law to provide energy labels for their appliances. All Neff ovens are graded A or B.

Neff ovens have won a couple of awards, including the Good Housekeeping Institute giving their stamp of approval to two of Neff’s ovens. The U1644 was awarded the Good Housekeeping Institute stamp of approval in 2005 an the B1644 model received the stamp of approval in 2006. Both of these ovens were put through rigorous testing programmes that looked at all aspects of its features, function and performance.

By: Braeg Heneffe
