If your appliances in your home have been there for quite a while you may want to consider upgrading your appliances for several different reasons. Updating your appliances can be a hard choice with the variety that is available now. If you are in the market to upgrade your old appliances there are a few things you should know.

The appliances in your home include your stove, dishwasher, refrigerator, washer, dryer, hot water heater and your furnace. You may have all of these appliances or some. If you’re planning to pick up some home appliances over the internet, you can check few of the online classified websites like Criagslist and compare prices of different sellers and appliances available for sale before making any decisions.

Never buy dirty items. Home appliances that have not been kept in a good or neat condition need not be bought. Look elsewhere and buy a product that has been cleaned by the seller before taking a picture.

Ask the reason for the sale. Always ask a seller their reason for putting up their home appliance for sale. If it is because they have bought a new one or they do not require the appliance anymore or they need money urgently, then you can consider buying it. However, check if the appliance works.

No picture, no purchase. If a Craigslist ad doesn’t have a picture, move on to the next one. There is no use in making a deal when you can’t see the product first.

Cheap Purchase Season. The months between May and August usually see a lot of cheap home appliances ads by college students who are returning home after completion of their course and newlyweds rearranging their stuff. Buy during this season.

Seek friends’ help. While transporting huge, yet delicate appliances, get a friend’s help. Do not pressurize the seller by asking his help as you might not get it.

Similarly, if you need to use the seller’s truck to transport the appliance, ask for their help nicely and pay some extra bucks.

Not many of us will remember the brightly colored home appliances that our grandmothers had. However, brightly colored appliances were the order of the day some 30 years ago. This could be shocking for people who do not want to have colored appliances in their homes.

Although home appliances today have shorter life-span than the ones around two or three decades ago, we still consider them to be long term investments. Therefore, people think carefully before making their purchase. Most of the people pay close attention to the color of the appliance. However, sometimes they are in a quandary whether to purchase colored ones or stick to neutral colors like white or black.

Whether to buy colored home appliance or stick to neutral colors ultimately depends on your buying strategy and the décor of your home.

If you are buying an appliance to replace an older one, then you should opt for a color that matches with the other appliances in the room. So, if the room has colored appliances, you should opt for the same color. And, if the room has neutral colored appliances, then go for neutral. This should be your maxim for purchasing a replacement appliance.

However, if money is not a criterion and you like to follow trends, then you should opt for colored appliances. This can make the kitchen look vibrant and cheerful. However, you also need to realize that these appliances can give your kitchen an outdated look in no time. Also, if the appliance has to be replaced some time in the future and you do not get the same color, you will be saddled with a mismatched appliance in your kitchen which will stick out like a sore thumb.

If you are replacing all the appliances in the kitchen, then check out the color of the flooring, the countertop and the tiles. You should make your decision based on this. Always price compare: Whenever I buy something in life, I always make sure that I check out at least 5 different stores before I make my purchase. Thankfully with the internet, I’m able to get all the prices I want online. I will then find the cheapest place and see if I can get cheaper in the store or online.

A small refrigerator is great for those that are looking to take up less space and still want to keep things cool. With the economy the way it is today, I don’t blame you for wanting to find a cheaper price. Try some of the strategies above and see if you can save money on your next purchase.
