Homes and businesses can have very different requirements when it comes to choosing appliances. Clearly, if your organization is home-based, your needs are equivalent to that of a residential dwelling. Likewise, if you are running a large manufacturing company your requirements are going to be different. Even so, home and business appliances are basically the same.

As the needs of all homes are pretty much the same, they all have the same basic domestic machines. Businesses, on the other hand can be very different, and have very different requirements. There are five basic, regular residential appliances. These are the washer and dryer, stove, refrigerator and dishwasher. Other, smaller home appliances can include a microwave, coffee maker, kettle, toaster, blender, mixer, food processor, extra ranges and more.

Businesses rarely have as many appliances as homes do, although, some companies can require the same machines only in more heavy-duty models. For example, in your house, the coffee maker is usually only turned on and run once in the morning. In a fair sized organization, the coffee maker could be used five or ten times a day, or more for a larger business! When shopping for your residence, you would probably buy a regular 12 cup coffee maker, but when shopping for a large company you would probably want to find something more durable and large in proportion to the amount of people that will be using it.

A lot of businesses, including smaller ones have a kitchen in which there is usually a microwave, small fridge and a kettle. These are the same appliances that you would typically find in a house. The larger organizations may have a more full-sized kitchen with a stove and regular fridge. Businesses like manufacturing companies and factories are the ones that have the heavy duty machines. Some of these appliances include very large freezers and refrigerators. Some factories like to provide frozen treats for their employees in the summer because of the lack of air conditioning, and as such, they need a much more heavy-duty freezer than a residential address would typically have. The fridges in these factories would also be much larger in order to house all of the lunches. Some homes with bigger families can have a large fridge, but not usually as large as the factory fridges.

Another difference between home and business appliances is that manufacturers will sometimes make the business appliances have a higher wattage than the appliances meant for homes. The reason for this is because business appliances are used a lot more often and in a larger capacity than appliances in the setting of a house.

So, there is not much difference between home and business appliances. There only needs to be a difference if the organization is large and has a lot of employees. Also, both of these types of machines are bought at the same stores. It is very hard to find a store that only sells business appliances.

By: Amy Nutt

Purchasing a new appliance is a major money decision. You need to be not only an informed consumer, but also ready and willing to hunt down the best prices. In this article, we’ll tell you 7 great tips that you can use to save money on your next appliance purchase.

1. Buy the right size.

Don’t buy an industrial-sized fridge for a family of three when a smaller, cheaper and more energy-efficient model will do. Instead, take a cue from the Europeans and learn that smaller is often better.

2. Go shopping at the end of the month.

If you’re purchasing your appliances from a retailer with commissioned sales clerks, you’ll find they’re typically much more likely to negotiate on the last day of the month than the first. Because sales people need to meet targets and monthly quotas, they’re more motivated to sell at a lower price.

3. Take a retailer up on their price guarantee.

If a retailer is advertising that they’ll match and beat any lower advertised prices, take them up on it. Look for the particular brand or model you’re interested in online and chances are you’ll find a lower price somewhere. Bring in a printout of the competitor’s price and take your local dealer up on his price-matching offer. You’ll save the shipping costs you would have incurred from the online retailer.

4. Don’t buy when you can refurbish.

If you can repair or upgrade an appliance that’s running relatively efficiently (and isn’t an energy bill guzzler), then do so instead of replacing it. You’ll find that repairs and extending the life of an already-efficient appliance are cheaper than a totally new unit.

5. Ask when the floor models go on sale.

Usually a few times a year, retailers will put their floor models on sale to make room for new merchandise. Get in the know and ask when these sales are happening. You can save anywhere from 30-75% just by purchasing a floor model.

6. Get the sales clerk working for you.

When your sales clerk asks if there’s anything he or she can help you with, simply tell the person you’re looking for a bargain. They usually know about returned items in the back that are heavily discounted or good deals that may otherwise go unnoticed. By tapping into the expertise of your sales clerk, you can often save a lot of money.

7. Always buy energy efficient.

It may cost more now, but you’ll save hundreds of dollars on your monthly energy bills. The unit will pay for itself in a few short years.

By: Jason B. Cox

When shopping for a new refrigerator, be sure to take a look at all options before making a purchase, because it is something that requires a lot of thought and a lot of research. There are three factors that should be considered before choosing a refrigerator. Once these three things have been considered, begin research on the make and model of fridge you are interested in.

1. Amount of space available – Some refrigerators are going to be taller and wider than others, so figure out how much space is available for the new refrigerator by simply measuring the space available, but be sure not to measure incorrectly.

2. Money you are willing to spend – Set a purchase price that is affordable. Figure out how much money you have to spend on a new refrigerator. This will help eliminate unsuitable models from your search since some models cost more than others.

3. Needs of your family – Do you have a large or a small family? This will help determine what size refrigerator that you are going to need.

Now that we know what kind of things to consider when purchasing a new refrigerator, let’s take a look at the different types of refrigerators that are available on the market to get an idea of what type of refrigerator will best suited to your needs. Here are three different types of refrigerators that are popular in today’s market:

Side by side

With this type of refrigerator, the freezer is on the left and the refrigerator is on the right. These models are taller than most other refrigerators and require more space than the usual top and bottom refrigerator models because both doors have to open. This is a good choice if you have a lot of room in your house, however, be aware that there is not a lot of room in the freezer section for big and bulky items.

Freezer on top

This is the most common type of refrigerator and one that you would see in most people’s homes. These are a good choice if you like to be able to easily see what is in the freezer. They usually offer a lot of options and they are more versatile than the side by side freezers with regards to the amount of space that they require.

Freezer on bottom

This is the opposite of the freezer on top and for the same reasons that people like the freezer on top, people like the freezer on bottom. Two great benefits of the refrigerator are easy and quick access to things in the refrigerator part, instead of having to stoop down and some people feel safer with the freezer on bottom because they don’t have to worry about something heavy falling on their head, like a turkey.

It all comes down to personal choice when you are choosing the refrigerator that is right for you. You have to think about your budget, your family’s needs, and the amount of space that you want. This will help you to choose a model that is right for you.

By: Amy Nutt

I was overjoyed when I finally got the Kenmore Elite refrigerator that I had been dreaming about for years. Aside from the new house, this kitchen appliance is the most important purchase we made. We were really lucky because the Kenmore Elite refrigerator that was made in 2003 was recalled for slight repairs. This is because many owners opted to return this refrigerator instead of having it repaired.

I was also happy to discover that the local scratch-and-dent appliance store offered repaired units for a fraction of the cost of buying a brand new appliance. This discount is great because many of the fridges that were sold at that appliance store were never used at all. You see, the manufacturer simply sent them to the repair shop and sold them as reconditioned. Our Kenmore Elite refrigerator that we purchased was brand new and it cost significantly less than a model bought in a retail store.

I have no idea how I ever functioned without my new Kenmore Elite refrigerator now that I have it. The fridge that we chose is the three door model that has a bottom freezer compartment that is simple to access and easy to use. I can fill the storage capacity this vast kitchen appliance with the help of the side-by-side doors.

This kitchen appliance offers amazing features such as the humidity controls in the produce drawers and the impervious ice machine that is not found in other appliances. The shelves and drawers of this fridge pull out and slide right back into place without a struggle making a lot easier to clean up. This wonderful refrigerator also has a frost-free freezer that is a dream-come-true for me. I have also saved a lot of money on bottled water because my Kenmore Elite refrigerator offers filtered water.

The Kenmore Elite refrigerator allows me to save money because produce, meats and cheeses don’t spoil nearly as quickly as other units. I can store food for a longer time and still have confidence that it will still be fresh with this appliance. I do not throw away a lot of spoiled products anymore because I now know that I have time to use everything that I buy.

By: Morgan Hamilton

Is your dishwasher making that funny sound again? What about that sputtering noise coming from the ice cube dispenser in the fridge? And while we’re at it, what’s the deal with the sooty buildup in the door of that oven? Are you in need of appliance repair New York? If so, it is very important that you ask the right questions of an appliance repair company, whether its in Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens or out in the ‘burbs.

The first question should be about the time frame for a repairman to arrive, especially if we’re talking about a potentially dangerous issue like a boiler.
The next thing you want to know is total bill for this type of repair. Keep in mind that there can be items like call-out fees, trip charges, service charges and money for parts and labor.

Assuming that the above questions are answered to your satisfaction, you will also want to know how long the appliance repair company has been in business and whether or not they have the applicable insurance. When dealing with mechanical issues, even an experienced New York appliance repairman can inadvertently cause water, fire, smoke or structural damage to a home, so if they’re insured, its an added level of protection for you, the homeowner, as well.

Lastly, you may want to make sure that they can offer some type of guarantee (written) for the work they’re performing and for the new parts they’re installing. If there is a warranty, you’ll want to ask how much time it covers your appliance for.

So whether you’re in need of appliance repair in NYC, appliance repair on Long Island, or appliance repair in New Jersey or Westchester, uses these questions to ensure that the best service is on its way!

By: Anirban Bhattacharya

Home appliances are considered to be very important with a lot of people. Nowadays nobody has the time to do hand washing of bed sheets and jeans, and toasting a bread in an open fire is certainly not a good idea!

Appliances are very handy tools inside our homes, but what do we need the most? In stores today, there are lots of useful appliances that we need more but which one do we really need the most?

In this short article, we list the ten most needed home appliances and explains how these appliances helps each other in the lists.

Number One – the Stove

You really need a fireplace to cook your food. Without a stove, you might as well eat out everyday. For those of you who eat out frequently, imagine how much money you have spent eating out instead buying a stove using that money. A stove can basically bake or cook fish, beef and chicken, bake chicken and boil water. Most food you want to cook and complete the recipe needs a stove.

Number Two – the Refrigerator

If you still have not buy a fridge for yourself, you have to move somewhere cold and freezing especially during summer for the food to keep cold and to preseve it. But if you want to preserve food and you don’t want to buy your own fridge, a stupid idea is to cut giant ice blocks and put it in your box..

Number Three – the Washer

Washing machine is a very helpful appliance. Within thirty minutes, all of your dirty laundry could be cleaned. About a hundred years ago, doing laundry takes so much time even for just a small group of family.

Number Four – the Dryer

It’s like having a washing machine which helps you to do your laundry in about thirty minutes. The dryer dries clothes just like washer in about thirty minutes. and useful especially in the winter when there’s no sunlight!

Number Five – the Dishwasher

We all know that dishwashing is one of the most hated chores in home. Having one dishwasher simply saves much time and power. This appliance doesn’t just wash dishes, it also disinfects them.

Number Six – Toaster

People are used in having a breakfast with a toast bread along. Toasters are effective and efficient in doing the job.

Number Seven – Coffee Maker

Maybe you are not into coffee but you can’t face the fact that coffee is very addictive and someone in your home could be one. And coffee is often the preferred beverage for your guests.

Number Eight – Blender

Since everyone likes healthy food, a blender can help you make it. There is nothing like whipping a homemade soup in just a minute and grinding frozen fruit for just seconds.

Number Nine – Food Processor

These helpful appliances has a variety of sizes. Within minutes you could chop up your food for dinner with a food processor and not spending an hour for chopping. And if you would leave your family for a long period of time, you could already chop all the veggies needed and tell someone in the house the remaining instructions that could be easily followed.

Number Ten – Microwave:

A microwave can help you defrost or heat up something within an amount of time. And also, people loves popcorn, microwave is a helpful appliance to have.

By: Zach Smith

Everyone knows that home appliances are very important. After all, no one has time to be hand washing jeans and sheets these days, and having to toast bread over an open fire would certainly not be very convenient! Appliances are very important in our homes, but which ones are the most important? Out of all of the appliances available in stores today, which ones are the ones that would be labeled as “must haves”? This article will touch on the top ten appliances to have at home, and will also back up each one as to why it is in the top ten list.

Number One – Stove: Without a stove in your kitchen you would definitely need a fireplace, unless you planned on eating out at least once a day, if not several times per day. If you were to eat out that often, the money you would spend in a week or two would probably pay for any stove you would like to buy! A stove can boil water, bake a cake, cook chicken, beef or fish, and basically cook or bake anything you need. Most recipes in your cookbook need a stove to complete the recipe.

Number Two – Refrigerator: If you did not buy yourself a fridge you would need to live near a frozen lake or pond in the winter and build an underground cold storage facility for the summer months. Food needs to kept cold to stay fresh. That is a fact of life, and unless you want to cut out giant blocks of ice in the winter for your ice box, you will need a fridge.

Number Three – Washer: Washers are a great appliance to have. There is nothing like stuffing a load of dirty clothes into the modern washer and thirty minutes later having a load of clean clothes. One hundred years ago washing clothes took a whole day to do – and that was if you had a small family!

Number Four – Dryer: Just like its nice to have a washer clean your clothes in thirty minutes, its also great to have a dryer to dry them in the same amount of time. In the winter especially!

Number Five – Dishwasher: This appliance is a lifesaver for a large family, but it is still a blessing to have for two or three people. Nobody likes to wash dishes, and to have an appliance that does all of the work for you is always great! Also, dishwashers don’t just wash the dishes, they disinfect them as well.

Number Six – Toaster: Most people like toast, and it has become a staple in the morning. Toasters do the job effectively and fast enough for our fast-paced lives.

Number Seven – Coffee Maker: Even if you don’t like the black stuff, you will eventually have people in your home who do like it, and are probably very addicted to it! Coffee is a great ice breaker and something nice to offer to guests.

Number Eight – Blender: Everyone is eating healthier these days and a blender really helps you to do this. A blender can whip up a homemade soup in minutes, or a frozen fruit drink in seconds.

Number Nine – Food Processor: These handy appliances come in all kinds of sizes these days and they are very helpful in the kitchen. Instead of spending an hour chopping up foods for dinner you can do it in minutes with a food processor. Also, if Mom has to go away for a couple of days, instead of buying unhealthy frozen dinners for her family, she can pre-chop all of the veggies needed for meals and just leave some simple instructions that hopefully Dad can follow!

Number Ten – Microwave: When you want to defrost something fast, or heat some leftovers, a microwave is a very important appliance. Also, without a microwave, you could never have any microwave popcorn.

So there it is, a list of the top 10 home appliance must have’s.

By: Amy Nutt

Storing wines for a longer period of time requires special conditions: a relatively dark place with humidity around 50-70 % and a temperature around 55-56 degrees F. A vibration free, calm environment is also necessary to preserve the quality of your wines.

Building and maintaining a cellar, however is a costly project and few of us can afford it.

That’s why home appliance manufacturers developed electric wine coolers, also known as wine refrigerators.

You might say why you would need a separate fridge to store your wines in it when you already have a refrigerator where you keep food stuff.

The temperature in a kitchen refrigerator is usually too cold for storing wines and if the fridge is opened frequently the temperature fluctuates.

Moreover you won’t always have enough space in your fridge for all your bottles of wine that have to be stored horizontally to keep the corks moist and prevent them from drying out.

An ordinary fridge is designed to cool the interior quickly and keep humidity on a low level which is not good for wines.

In a wine bottle cooler however the set storage temperature is reached gradually and the more advanced wine refrigerators maintain humidity level to replicate conditions existing in a natural cellar.Vibration is another enemy of wine (disturbs the natural sedimentation process) and compressor-run kitchen refrigerators vibrate every time the unit starts a cooling cycle.

Most small wine coolers are thermoelectric appliances that don’t contain compressors and provide vibration-free and silent storage for wines. Compressor-operated wine refrigerators are equipped with special vibration dampeners to eliminate vibration caused by the compressor.

Today many types of wine fridges are available offering a wide choice in size and decor.

If you drink wine only occasionally and your home is tight on space than a small wine cooler with a capacity of 6-12 bottles is a good choice. Most small wine coolers occupy little space and can be placed on the kitchen counter or built-in under the counter.

Make sure you check before buying whether the model you want to buy is a freestanding-only unit or can be built-in the existing kitchen cabinetry. Built-in cellars are zero clearance appliances with venting integrated on the front of the unit.

If you grow-out your small wine cooler you can invest in a larger capacity more advanced refrigerated wine cellar that satisfy the needs even the most serious wine aficionados.

By: Erzsebet Dobos

So, you’re in the market to find a small refrigerator? That’s great and with so many places to look for one, I know why it can be hard to find one for the right price. Today, I want to give you some tips on how you can find the perfect fridge for your dorm room, your home, or anywhere else you may want to put it. As long as you apply these tips, you should be able to find one for a very reasonable price.

Check out the used ones first: Used is always the best when it comes to price. Since many things in life lose their value fast, I would check out the used section of either your paper, the bulletin board at your college, or Craigslist online. There are so many used classified sites online; it shouldn’t be hard to find one for 50-75% off.

Always price compare: Whenever I buy something in life, I always make sure that I check out at least 5 different stores before I make my purchase. Thankfully with the internet, I’m able to get all the prices I want online. I will then find the cheapest place and see if I can get cheaper in the store or online.

A small refrigerator is great for those that are looking to take up less space and still want to keep things cool. With the economy the way it is today, I don’t blame you for wanting to find a cheaper price. Try some of the strategies above and see if you can save money on your next purchase.

By: Tom Tessin
