Small refrigerators, often referred to as mini refrigerators or compact refrigerators, are great at offering conveniences for many people in many different living scenarios. For most people a mini refrigerator serves the purpose of a backup or supplemental appliance to their primary, full-sized refrigerator. But for a small college dorm room where refrigerating needs are limited a mini refrigerator is popular because it does the job on a small, compact scale.

Small beverage refrigerators are commonly used in homes that are large enough to enjoy the convenience of having a small refrigerator in or around an area or room that is frequently used for gathering of people, such as an outdoor refrigerator in the backyard or a beverage refrigerator in the bar or game room.

In college the needs are limited to snacks, leftover pizza, and drinks. A mini refrigerator serves these needs and not much more. For a busy college student who is occupied with either studying or partying, maintaining a full sized refrigerator is not only impractical but impossible with the limited amount of living space available. It is perfect for storing enough food for a meal and a half.

But being a college student means more than limited refrigerating needs and limited living space. Most typical college students have very temporary living situations that requires a lot of moving. That means most students do not own much furniture or large appliances. A small refrigerator is easy to move around and can be transported without excessive assistance. It can be laid on its side to fit in a standard commercial vehicle but remember to let the refrigerator sit up right for a couple hours before plugging in the power.

Then you have the more common models of small and compact refrigerators for typical in house use and are common in dorms and small apartment, these units are usually built to be more budget friendly than others and are very simple in function and design. Built in refrigerators refer to any unit that is designed specifically to be integrated into the wall or counter of a kitchen. Outdoor refrigerators are mini refrigerators that are built sturdy and durable. Almost all models of dedicated outdoor refrigerators are built with stainless steel which is especially strong against possible acidity accidents with food that plastic would not stand a chance of surviving. These units are perfect for conveniently serving your refrigerating needs outdoors.

Then we have the most common small refrigerators which are popular in college dorm rooms and small studio apartments without full kitchens. These come in a wide variety of selections and are usually very plain in design. They aren’t built to last as long as some other designs but that is because of their very purpose. It serves college students and people who have not settled into a home. Small, light, and cheap makes it easy to use, transport, and afford.

When it comes to specialty purpose small refrigerators we think of ice maker refrigerators as the most common example. These units are dual function refrigerators with an ice maker feature. When your student is ready to go to college and you are wondering what would make a nice gift that can be used often and appreciated very much, the small refrigerator is the answer. Often students study late and need a place to keep their drinks and snack foods so they do not have to go out. It saves them time and money because ordering in can be an expensive part of the cost of living on campus. When a student has to spend time out trying to feed their hunger than time is wasted for studying.

The refrigerator is great for those sporting events that many students like to enjoy together in a group in the dorm common room. The small refrigerator can hold a lot of cold drinks and pizza’s in the freezer part making it a handy way to provide your student with the things in life that provide a bit of comfort away from home. The climate of a college campus changes and students make the adjustment well but it is nice to be able to still get some of the things that they would have access to when they lived at home.

For many young people eating munchies and drinking soda is just a part of the American culture that they have grown accustomed. The small refrigerator helps maintain this part of the student’s culture making life a bit easier while residing on campus. If you’re planning to pick up some home appliances over the internet, you can check few of the online classified websites like Criagslist and compare prices of different sellers and appliances available for sale before making any decisions.

Never buy dirty items. Home appliances that have not been kept in a good or neat condition need not be bought. Look elsewhere and buy a product that has been cleaned by the seller before taking a picture.

Ask the reason for the sale. Always ask a seller their reason for putting up their home appliance for sale. If it is because they have bought a new one or they do not require the appliance anymore or they need money urgently, then you can consider buying it. However, check if the appliance works.

No picture, no purchase. If a Craigslist ad doesn’t have a picture, move on to the next one. There is no use in making a deal when you can’t see the product first.

Cheap Purchase Season. The months between May and August usually see a lot of cheap home appliances ads by college students who are returning home after completion of their course and newlyweds rearranging their stuff. Buy during this season.

Seek friends’ help. While transporting huge, yet delicate appliances, get a friend’s help. Do not pressurize the seller by asking his help as you might not get it.

Similarly, if you need to use the seller’s truck to transport the appliance, ask for their help nicely and pay some extra bucks.
