Megan Karch Executive Director FareStart www.farestart.com
Megan Karch, Executive Director of FareStart, joined the non-profit training school in February of 2000. Prior to that time she was the Director of vocational Services for the Developmental Services Group, inc. in Columbia, Maryland, and she brought to FareStart a solid background in job training, work with disadvantaged populations, and socio-entrepreneurial activities. Under her leadership, FareStart has successfully completed a three year, $8 million capital campaign, increased the number of students served, maintained an 85% job placement rate, expanded FareStart's meal service contract and catering businesses, and encouraged the opening of Kitchens with Mission - an organization formed to help other cities replicate the FareStart model. Ms. Karch holds a BA in Psychology from the college of Wooster in Wooster, OH. She is currently a trustee for the Executive Alliance. Venture Description FareStart is a job training and placement program for homeless and disadvantaged individuals. Over the past 15 years, FareStart has provided opportunities for over 2,000 people to transform their lives, while also serving nearly 3 million meals to disadvantaged men, women, and children.
Venture Mission FareStart provides a community that transforms lives by empowering homeless and disadvantaged men, women, and families to achieve self-sufficiency through life skills, job training, and employment in the food service industry.
