Megan Karch, Executive Director of FareStart, joined
the non-profit training school in February of 2000. Prior to that time she was the Director of vocational Services for the Developmental Services Group, inc. in Columbia, Maryland, and she brought to FareStart a solid background in job training, work with disadvantaged populations, and socio-entrepreneurial activities. Under her leadership, FareStart has successfully completed a three year, $8 million capital campaign, increased the number of students served, maintained an 85% job placement rate, expanded FareStart's meal service contract and catering businesses, and encouraged the opening of Kitchens with Mission - an organization formed to help other cities replicate the FareStart model. Ms. Karch holds a BA in Psychology from the college of Wooster in Wooster, OH. She is currently a trustee for the Executive Alliance.

“In the end, it’s not $100 billion a year, but rather millions of Americans with better health, safer streets, cleaner air, stronger schools, more affordable housing, greater hope, and bigger dreams that represent the real potential—and the truest inspiration to action.”

Bill Bradley, Paul Jansen, Les Silverman, The Nonprofit Sector’s $100 Billion Opportunity, Harvard Business Review, May 2003
