Financing Social Enterprise Ventures: Making Cents of the Options
Date: Wednesday March 19, 2008
Time: 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
Location: Hosanna House
Business professionals from around the city joined the Accelerator staff and special guests for a working lunch session that explored appropriate financing options for social enterprise ventures and reviewed essential financial considerations.
Our guest panel included representatives from the Richard K. Mellon Foundation, The Heinz Endowments, Coro Center for Civic Leadership, Lutheran Service Society, and the Social Innovation Accelerator where the topics of revenue builds & profitability, seed capital, operating/working capital and growth capital were discussed. Each guest was given a take-away booklet outlining common business challenges, questions to consider, and resources for solutions.

“If the sector increased the social benefit it delivered by a mere 1% (however that might be measured) it would be worth the equivalent of $20 billion per year in new resources.”
