Making Money While Making A Difference
Date: Wednesday January 9, 2008
Time: 8:00-10:00 am
Location: Urban Mountain Gathering Place, Mt. Washington

Business professionals from around the city joined the Accelerator staff and special guests for a working breakfast that explored the common organizational challenges affecting social enterprises and discussed tips on how to strengthen ventures.

Our guest panel included representatives from the McCune Foundation, Olszak Consulting, University of Pittsburgh, and the Social Innovation Accelerator where the topics of staffing and management needs, culture challenges, consulting services, and board development were discussed. Each guest was given a take-away booklet outlining common business challenges, questions to consider, and resources for solutions.

“Nonprofit leaders and funders must collaborate. When goals are sharply defined and progress in meeting them carefully measured, the difference between ultimate success or failure often is the degree to which there are cooperative, collaborative approaches among participants.”

Maxwell King, Opportunity Builders, h, the Magazine of the Heinz Endowments Summer 2005
